Help

What the platform does today, and what it does not do yet. Anything described here as unavailable is marked the same way in the interface.

Accounts

Do I need an account to watch?
No. Watching, and reading chat, need nothing. An account is for following, chatting, reacting, clipping and streaming.
How old do I have to be?
16. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account and it is declared rather than verified. Channels marked as unsuitable for under 18s read that date instead of asking again.
I signed up and the confirmation email has not arrived.
The message carries a link, not a code, and the link works in any browser on any device. Check spam first. If it is genuinely not there, ask again from the banner at the top of the site once you are signed in.
Can I sign in with GitHub or Google?
Not yet. Both buttons are on the login page and both are marked as coming soon, so email and a password is the way in for now.

Your channel

Where is my channel?
Every account has one. It is private when it is created, which is all a channel needs to be if you only came here to watch, and Settings is where you make it public.
How do I change my handle, avatar or cover?
All three are in Settings. The handle is checked against every other channel as you type.
The stack I use is not in the list.
Ask for it. The picker in Settings has a Request a stack chip that records the name against your account. The list is deliberately closed, because free text turns the browse rows into tag soup, so a new one is added by hand rather than by typing it.

Going live

What do I need to stream?
OBS, or anything else that speaks RTMP. Studio hands you a server URL and a stream key to paste into it, and the key is the same one every time until you rotate it.
Can I go live straight from a browser tab?
No. The video provider takes RTMP, RTMPS and SRT, and a browser speaks none of them. It needs a relay of our own in between, which does not exist yet.
Does going live make my channel public?
Never, in either direction. A channel is public because you said so. Studio refuses to set a stream up on a private channel and offers to publish it in one click instead.

Recordings and clips

How long is a past broadcast kept?
30 days. After that it stops being watchable anywhere on the site. The file itself ages out on our video provider's own schedule rather than being deleted by us on the day, so treat the 30 days as how long you can watch it, not as an erasure. You can turn the archive off entirely in Settings, in which case nothing is recorded in the first place.
How long do clips last?
Clips are permanent. They are seconds long, so there is no reason to expire them with the broadcast they came from.

Commas

What is a Comma?
The unit stickers are priced in. 100 Commas to the pound, and the rate does not move. Commas buy stickers and nothing else: they cannot be sent to another viewer and cannot be cashed out.
Can I buy Commas yet?
Yes, from your wallet.
What does a creator get from a sticker?
80 percent of what was spent on it. The rest is platform revenue. Withdrawing it runs through Stripe Connect, set up from the wallet page.

When something is wrong

How do I report a stream or a channel?
There is a report control on every channel page. It goes to the moderation queue with the channel and the time attached.
My account was suspended.
The notice on your settings page says why and for how long. Appeal it here if you think it is wrong.
I streamed a credential by accident.
Rotate it first, then report the stream. We will pull the recording and every clip cut from it.
What are the rules?
The content policy is what moderation acts on. The rest of the paperwork is in one place.

Still stuck

The contact form is the way to reach us, and it is the route the legal pages give too. Replying to a notification email does not reach anybody: that address only sends, which is why there is a form rather than an inbox. Suspensions are the exception and have a route of their own.
